COGA Event: O Teacher, Where Art Thou? THIS SUNDAY!

11 Feb

After months of preparation, it’s hard to believe that the inaugural COGA Teachers Event is finally upon us!

The event is THIS SUNDAY (17 February) and there are only a few days left to buy your tickets. Don’t miss out on this amazing event – buy your tickets today!

We are please to announce another 2 teachers will be joining us for afternoon tea. Mrs Ruth Perram was a well-loved History teacher, and we welcome one of the ORIGINAL teachers of Cheltenham Girls High School, Mrs Beverley Westwood (nee Hassett). Mrs Westwood was a Science and Maths teacher with the first intake of Cheltenham Girls in 1957, way back when the girls were starting out at Epping Boys High School! We can’t wait to hear their stories!

As an extra special treat, all attendees will be given an exclusive guided tour of the Museum of Ancient Cultures. The Museum is all ours for the afternoon, so you can view the collections at your leisure. Bring the family – they’ll love it!

Tickets are still on sale for a strictly limited time. We accept payment by cheque (made out to Cheltenham Old Girls Association and sent to PO Box 1594, Macquarie Centre NSW 2113) or by Direct Debit / EFT Transfer (BSB: 659000, A/c No.: 668862). If you are paying by EFT, please use your name as a reference and email us (cheltenhamoldgirls@gmail.com) to confirm payment. Tickets are on sale until Wednesday 13 February.

Hope to see you on Sunday 17 February!

COGA Event: O Teacher, Where Art Thou? More News!

5 Feb

We are so lucky to announce another 2 former teachers who will be joining us at the inaugural COGA Teachers Event.

Mrs Helen Smith who taught English from 1989 to 2003, and Ms Helen Esmond who taught History and Social Studies from 1992 to 2002 are looking forward to spending the afternoon sharing their CGHS stories with us, and we are thrilled they are taking the time out to come to our afternoon tea.

As you know, the event is opened to all former students, and even if you don’t know any of the teachers coming on the day, please still come along and meet these wonderful men and women, and swap stories on how the school has changed from your days to theirs. Some of these former teachers only recently left the school, so they will certainly be able to tell you all the exciting changes the school has seen over the years.

Don’t forget, all attendees will be treated to an exclusive guided tour of the Museum of Ancient Cultures. The Museum is all ours for the afternoon, so you can view the collections at your leisure.

Tickets are still on sale for a limited time, so hurry and grab your tickets before they’re all gone!

Latest News!

4 Feb

The former teachers are all set to share stories of their years at CGHS, and we are keen to see you and your family on the day. Yes, your family is invited to the event too! This event is not just for you to catch up with your old teachers, but a chance for you to introduce your loved ones to them as well. Wouldn’t it be amazing for your husband / partner / kids to finally put faces to the names from your high school tales? Tickets for family members are $5 per person.

The latest teacher to accept our invitation is Mrs Margaret Sim, Head Librarian from 1973 to 2003. Mrs Sim fostered my lasting love affair with books, and I for one am very much looking forward to seeing her.

For those of you who think “Oh, I’m too old, all my teachers are probably dead and I don’t recognise any of the teachers coming to the event”, come along and compare notes with these former teachers on how the school has changed from your days to theirs. Some of these former teachers only recently left the school, so they will certainly be able to tell you all the exciting changes the school has seen over the years.

As an added bonus, all attendees on the day will receive an exclusive guided tour of the Museum of Ancient Cultures. The Museum is all ours for the afternoon, so you can view the collections at your leisure.

Tickets are still on sale for a limited time, so hurry and grab your tickets before they’re all gone!
